Salute to a Really Cool Invention: Espresso Books

Recently, in an article by Quill and Quire, I discovered the Espresso Book Machine. This “ATM for books” as the company calls it, is an on demand book printing device that prints and binds a book in less than four minutes. According to the article, in 2007 Time Magazine named it one of the best inventions of the year. Presently, the device is installed in several university book stores, the New York Public Library, the New Orleans Public Library and a few other places. Last week, according to the article, the Espress Book Machine Company and Xerox announced a partnership that will hopefully expand the availability of the device. Printed books on demand sounds arctic cool!

So to the Espresso Book Machine Company and their new partner Xerox I salute you!

  2. Sounds like a great idea especially at a major city library or large university.
