Saturday Snapshot -- October 20th

Welcome to Saturday Snapshot which is hosted by Alyce At Home With Books. Photos can be old or new, and on any given subject as long as they are clean and appropriate for all eyes to see. How much detail you give in the caption is entirely up to you. Please don't post random photos you see on the internet.

Recently, I discovered that a very large oak tree on my property had died and needed to be taken down.  Because of the size the job entailed using a very large crane and taking the tree down in sections.
After the base of the tree was removed the tree service had to cut it up into further sections.
 Even these sections were large.
Finally, the job was finished and it was hauled away.  I now have a clear view in my backyard  corner where the tree was.

  1. It's rather sad to see a majestic tree like that die.

  2. I always mourn when a tree dies! Hopefully there is more light now for other trees to grow!

  3. I hate it when huge old trees die...hopefully some of the younger ones will last as long. Here's my Saturday Snapsot.

  4. It hurts to see it happen but old dead trees must come down. I like the idea that they are clearing space for new light, new leaves, new inspiration.

  5. Interesting pictures - it is sad when a tree is ut down, but in this case it will make room for new growth. My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/LAoN2

  6. It's sad to cut a tree down, we've had to cut down a few trees on our property. In our county though, if you cut one down, you have to plant another one.

  7. Always sad when a tree has to come down--looks like there are plenty more around it, at least!

  8. That is a big tree! I'm sure that would have been dangerous for anyone but professionals to take down.

  9. Hauled away!! No fireplace? Nor anyone you knew who'd use it? We have a fireplace so that just seems a bit of a waste of good wood. I am glad you took it down before any damage occurred ♫♪

  10. My dad had a huge maple tree at the corner of his backyard that looked healthy but the roots were weak and it ended up falling on his neighbour's house! Thank goodness no one was home and insurance paid for everything.
